James McCoy, IOM
Executive Recruitment, Performance Coaching

James McCoy brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in chambers of commerce, economic development, and destination marketing. He currently serves as a consultant with The Chason Group, where his deep industry knowledge helps guide organizations in executive talent acquisition and strategic planning.
Prior to joining The Chason Group, James served as President & CEO of the Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce in Georgia and as Vice President of Government Affairs for the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce in North Carolina. During his tenure in Forsyth County, the Chamber was twice named a national finalist for "Chamber of the Year." Under his leadership, the organization spearheaded efforts that led to voter approval of more than $2 billion in investments across transportation, education, and public safety infrastructure. Additionally, the Chamber played a central role in attracting $2.5 billion in private investment and creating over 25,000 jobs in the region.
James is particularly proud of the professional development culture he fostered—four members of his former team have since gone on to lead chambers of commerce, including his successor in Forsyth County.
Notably, James was The Chason Group’s very first executive placement in 2004. He went on to lead one of the nation’s fastest-growing communities through a transformative era of strategic economic growth and community development.
He holds a BA from Wake Forest University and an MBA from the Mike Cottrell College of Business at the University of North Georgia. A dedicated Rotarian, James serves on the Board of Directors for both the North Georgia Community Foundation and the Georgia Budget & Policy Institute.
